Whole Disk Observations of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars in Millimeter–Submillimeter Bands
نویسندگان
چکیده
Whole disk brightness ratios for Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars are reported at 5.7, 9.5, 16.4, and 22.5 cm. Using models for the brightness temperature of Mars, the whole disk brightness temperatures for Jupiter and Saturn are also given for the four frequencies. Subject headings: balloons — cosmic microwave background — infrared: solar system — planets and satellites: individual (Jupiter, Mars, Saturn) — radio continuum: solar system

Hyperspectral AO Observations of Solar System Objects
We describe planetary science observations made with the Goddard Space Flight Center, acoustooptic tunable filter (AOTF) camera. This camera is a newly developed RF-tunable spectrophotometric imager with a spectral bandwidth of 25 cm and a tuning range from0.5 to 1.0 micron. The observations that we report here were made at the Starfire Optical Range 1.5-meter laser-beacon adaptive optics teles...
متن کاملA Millimeter and Submillimeter Kinetic Inductance Detector Camera
We present results from a demonstration camera using Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (MKIDs) (Day et al. in Nature 425, 817–821, 2003) at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. The focal plane consists of 16 two-color (240 and 350 GHz) pixels. Each pixel is a phased-array of slot dipole antenna whose output power is coupled to MKIDs via in-line color-defining bandpass filters. A prototyp...
متن کاملAn Absolute Flux Density Measurement of the Supernova Remnant Cassiopeia A at 32 GHz
We report 32 GHz absolute flux density measurements of the supernova remnant Cas A, with an accuracy of 2.5%. The measurements were made with the 1.5-meter telescope at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory. The antenna gain had been measured by NIST in May 1990 to be 0.505 ± 0.007 Jy . Our observations of Cas A in May 1998 yield Scas,1998 = 194± 5 Jy. We also report absolute flux density measurem...
متن کاملComparisons of the Millimeter and Submillimeter Bands for Atmospheric Temperature and Water Vapor Soundings for Clear and Cloudy Skies
Geostationary satellites provide revisiting times that are desirable for nowcasting and observations of severe weather. To overcome the problem of spatial resolution from a geostationary orbit, millimeter to submillimeter wave sounders have been suggested. This study compares the capabilities of various oxygen and water vapor millimeter and submillimeter bands for temperature and water vapor at...
